Alan is a registered architect in British Columbia. Alan’s experience includes working in the world’s renowned architectural firms, including Coop Himmelblau in Vienna and UNStudio in Shanghai. Locally in Vancouver, Alan worked for Arno Matis Architecture as a senior associate. After that, Alan decided to start his own office, where WAY Object and WAY Studio was born. Since then, his studio has won multiple prestigious awards, including Red Dot Award in Germany, the A’ Design Award in Italy, Muse Design Award in New York.

In 2022, Alan won the Red Dot best of the best award with his ZHE rocking chair. The Red Dot best of the best is extremely selective and it’s the highest prize to be received in the prestigious international competition.
