This is a collaborative interactive art exhibition done by 10 teenagers, finding the definition of ritual through a various way of innovative experiments, offering a unique perspective.

Date: May 28-31, 2026

Location: Canada Place

The word "ritual" often has serious, formal or religious associations but rituals can also relate to cultural activities or traditions that happen in everyday life, such as your daily basketball practice drills or even taking the bus to school!

In this exhibition 'Our Personal Rituals', young artists explore the importance of personal rituals that surround their daily lives. Routines and rituals shape our perception of time, sense of order, stability and even our feelings of belonging. Everyday routines and objects similarly help us not only navigate our lives but also help build our sense of identity.

What are some of the daily rituals that you perform that help shape your identity? Have you created new rituals to help cope with rising challenges? Are there any objects that acquired new meanings after it has become part of your ritual? We invite you to rethink the mundane routines and practices in your lives, perhaps there is more to these sometimes mindless movements than we think!

The Painting of “Our Rituals”

As part of the exhibition, we’re glad to have all visitors contributing to a collaborative interactive artwork that grows throughout the duration of Art Vancouver 2026.

Beginning with blank grids inspired by the routines and rituals that shape our daily lives, each participant is encouraged to fill a single square with a drawing, symbol, message, or memory that represents a meaningful ritual in their life.

Over the course of the exhibition, hundreds of individual expressions will come together to transform the canvas into a vibrant visual tapestry—demonstrating how personal rituals connect us, shape our identities, and create a sense of belonging within our communities.

What may begin as a simple daily habit can become a meaningful story worth sharing.
