High School Students Invited to New York Fashion Week! How Did They Get In?

For many art or fashion-loving high school students, New York Fashion Week (NYFW) feels like a dream that’s far out of reach — a world-class stage meant only for professionals. But at GAAC – Green Apple Art Centre, that door truly opens. Our students don’t just observe from afar; they step inside the backstage, work alongside industry talents, and experience the real heartbeat of fashion.

And this year’s NYFW?
Honestly — it was the craziest, coolest, most unforgettable one we’ve ever attended.

This Year’s NYFW: A Real-Life Extreme Challenge

GAAC has been invited to NYFW since 2019, but this year felt like we were filming a survival reality show.

Backstage was a high-speed battlefield:

  • 48 hours of nonstop work, barely a moment to sit down

  • Model fittings running until 3 a.m.

  • Makeup and hair artists drinking coffee like water

  • Us sewing and adjusting the final gown in a corner, so exhausted that the needle slipped three times

The air was filled with pressure, chaos, creativity, adrenaline —
the kind of atmosphere you can only understand by being inside New York Fashion Week itself.

Irreplaceable High School Student’s Experience

Being invited into NYFW backstage as a high schooler is something we never imagined could happen.

Previous GAAC students always told us:

“NYFW is something you absolutely must experience once in your life.”

Now that it was finally our turn, we understood why.

We were able to:
✔️ Meet well-known designers from the industry
✔️ Participate in real production tasks, from adjustments to final runway prep
✔️ Gain behind-the-scenes insight into how the fashion industry truly works
✔️ Add an incredibly valuable experience to our college applications

Every moment taught us one thing:
This is growth you can’t get from a classroom — it’s the kind of experience future creators dream of.

The runway lights, the garment details, the models, the frantic backstage rush, the late-night sewing…
Every photo proves that we were truly part of a world-class fashion event.

We’re exhausted, but incredibly proud.
In pain, but thrilled at how much we’ve grown.

Join Us Next Year — Let’s Chase Dreams Together

To future students reading this: If you love art, fashion, design, or storytelling, NYFW will open your eyes to a completely new world.

Next year, we hope new teammates will join us — to stay up late, create, hustle, and dream together.

(And by the way, lots more backstage moments and runway photos are already posted on our homepage — go check them out!)

As a leading institution, Green Apple Art Center is one of the few schools globally that offers a well-rounded curriculum combining learning and real-world experience. In 2015, GAAC helped students launch Vitruvius — the world’s first new-gen fashion label founded by high school students — and has since guided student designers (aged 15–18) onto the NYFW runway year after year.

The Spring/Summer 2027 NYFW showcase will be held in New York in September 2026. This six-month program offers students an immersive journey through the fashion world, stepping into the shoes of both designer and brand founder.

At GAAC, we believe fashion is the expression of one’s soul — and we’re looking for students ready to shape their visions into something extraordinary.

Founded in 2015, Green Apple Art Center (GAAC) helped launch Vitruvius, the world’s first student-led high school fashion brand, and has since taken students aged 15–18 to NYFW every year. Over time, our [NYFW Program] has evolved into a premier incubator for young designers and a standout achievement for students applying to top universities.

Each year, Vitruvius receives glowing attention from local and international media, while students gain endorsements from leading industry experts. Their collections and NYFW experience have become invaluable assets in university applications and professional portfolios.

The next chapter of fashion begins now — and we can’t wait to see who joins us on the runway.
