Bringing Art to Life: GAAC Students Host “Florescence” Charity Sale at Vancouver’s Art Downtown

This summer, students from the Green Apple Art Centre (GAAC) brought creativity, warmth, and community spirit to Vancouver by hosting a charity art sale titled “Florescence” at the vibrant Art Downtown Summer Festival. Their goal was simple yet meaningful — to let art bloom in the heart of the city and make a positive impact.

01

Students as Project Leads

For this event, GAAC students took on far more than the role of participants — they were the project leads. They were responsible for:

  • Designing the event theme

  • Planning visual concepts and booth layout

  • Creating original artworks for the sale

  • Communicating and interacting with visitors on-site

This hands-on experience allowed them to bring art to the public, while learning what it means to contribute creatively to a real community event.

Artworks Reserved Before Completion

To everyone’s surprise, several artworks were reserved even before they were finished! All proceeds — nearly $200 CAD — were donated in full to the UBC & VGH Hospital Foundation, supporting healthcare initiatives in the local community.

This was more than just an art sale — it was a meaningful gesture of care, responsibility, and generosity.

03

Professional Recognition

Beyond the charity sale, GAAC students also showcased their strong artistic capabilities at the Art Master, earning:

  • 🥇 1st Place – Nicolas

    Prize: A brand-new air fryer

  • 🥈 2nd Place – Summer

Prize: A premium snack gift basket

These awards highlight not only their talent and effort, but also their growing presence on international creative platforms.

More Than Teaching Art

At GAAC, we firmly believe:

Art education isn’t just about improving technical skills — it’s about giving students a stage to be seen.

From the classroom to exhibitions, from portfolios to international events, we continuously create real-world platforms for our students to showcase their work—helping them build confidence, experience, and influence throughout their creative journey. The 2025–2026 Art Hope Foundation member list has now been announced, and we can’t wait to see the exciting projects and events they will bring to life!
