Weekend Workshop

Can’t Draw, Won’t Draw
Whether you are a total beginner who lacks confidence or you are rediscovering your creative ability, this course will provide you with new ways of expressing your innate potential. How to begin: in the initial stages the emphasis is both own and value the process and outcome of drawing and painting. Students will encourage letting go for all their preconceived ideas of art. You have made your mark gaining confidence in working with color, tone, light and shade is at the core of effective art practice. Students will be encouraged to work in their chosen medium and will receive individual art practice, considering composition, form and perspective with a more imaginative approach to drawing and painting.

Total Drawing
If you can scribble you can draw! This course will suit you if you could enjoy drawing but are unsure of how or what to draw, or if you already have some skills but need help to apply them creatively. The course offers a thorough introduction to a variety of drawing materials including charcoal, chalks, ink wash and mixed media. At the beginning of the week we will work through simple drawing projects to help you to overcome uncertainty in handling materials, while developing new ways of looking at individual object, still life and the model. To strengthen the abstract qualities in your work and help overcome literal-mindness, time will be given over to analyzing form in space, studying light and shade and considering composition and pictorial design.
